colorful blacks

continuing on my kick from the last post, here is a selection of wonderfully bold colors overlaid with a black pattern:

lost this bid because i got distracted by etsy. oh the pain!

it's FLOCKED

back to basics

good ol' red, yellow, green, and blue: a simple yet effective color combination that i've overlooked in favor of seemingly more exciting colors. it is usually after many fruitless attempts that i return, non-existant tail between my legs, to these basics. they remind me of office supplies which i adore.

a great 30's photo print floral

the thing i try to remember is that of course, one is not limited to the usual shades of red, yellow, green, and blue. variations on the four often turn out to be rather pleasant, such as these pastel ducks.

being catty

it's about time that i did a proper cat post, as i have now collected enough images for a substantial one. i also realize i keep postponing my room post, for alas, i'm one of them lucky new yorkers that got hit with a mild bedbug episode. threw out the bed today, said goodbye to my lovely temperpedic, caulked up all the cracks and boxed up all my vintage fabrics out of paranoia... please don't let this bit of gross news stop you from reading my blog!! let's hope this new year is free of bugs but FULL OF CATS:

totally should have bid on this AMAZING 40's rayon cat dress...

so i, like, never post pictures of myself here. however, because it is related to my post, i just had to share my newest flea market acquisition: a lucite cat brooch to be honest i'm not sure when it's from since there's so many repros out there and i'm no expert (my hunch is that it's a nice 80's piece.) whatever the case, it's the perfect cat pin that i've been looking for!

new old

happy brand spankin' new year my lovely readers! i see there are some new followers too, so welcome! it makes my day so much brighter to see that other people find these images i love worth their time too, so thank you for joining!
i don't really make new year's resolutions (last year i said i'd buy less shoes and learn to garden, i sort of accomplished the first and the latter withered away in the back of my brain... maybe this year?) however, i do set artistic goals in the form of new reference material.

1: pots! specifically, grecian urns (these ones aren't, but who's checking?)

2: this one isn't really new but i'm going to finally set out on my nut immersion program. every kind of nut that exists. i will think only nuts.

3: i have fallen for fish.
